The Nanaimo Art Gallery is partnering with Nanaimo attorney Lloyd MacIlquham to present Xin Nian Haggis – Gung Haggis Fat Choy! This joint celebration of Chinese New Year and Robbie Burns Day will take place on Saturday, January 30, 2010, from 4 to 7 pm at the Spice Lounge, next to Bastion Jewellers, 143 Commercial Street across the street from the Downtown Gallery. Those of you who attended last year’s event will remember how much fun it was. Ticket prices are $15, children under 11 years of age half-price (but they will not be eligible for the Lucky Draw Door Prize).
Proceeds from this alcohol-free party will be shared between the Nanaimo Art Gallery and Haitian earthquake relief. This is a unique event not to be missed. After all, where else can you get haggis wonton soup, neaps and tatties spring rolls, and haggis chow mein. Entertainment includes the Hogmanay Opera, Chinese Fan Dance, Tea Ceremony, Chinese Buffet, and Lucky Draw Door Prize. Tickets are available from Swan MacIlquam 250-729-9948 and the Nanaimo Art Gallery, Downtown Branch, 150 Commercial St., 250-754-1750. Xin Nian Hao = Happy New Year!
