Woodgrove Centre’s Summer Arts Faire 2010 is seeking local musicians, visual artists, dancers, and spectacle/theatre performers for a unique entertainment and showcase opportunity taking place this summer from June 23 to August 11, 2010. Summer Arts Faire is an exciting new opportunity for local artists working in all mediums to present their talents to a wide audience at Vancouver Island’s largest shopping destination, the Woodgrove Centre. “We’re looking for top street and stage performers, crafters, and folk art demonstrators to show off their talents to thousands of visitors expected through the Centre this summer,” says festival producer Kim Smythe.
“We’ve developed the Summer Arts Faire to uniquely present a sampling of the Island’s arts and cultural offerings to families,” explains Nola Dunn, Woodgrove Centre marketing director. “Woodgrove will be presenting main stage performers, artists for demonstrations, quality arts and crafts vendors, and roving spectacle entertainers for single and multiple engagements during an eight week event held each Wednesday this summer.”
Professional and amateur musicians, dancers and performers are invited to apply for a spot on the main stage. Performers in circus and spectacle arts are required for engagements as roving entertainers. High quality artists are sought for folk art demonstrations in the Centre Court viewing area. Single or multiple spots are available for artists to work and interact with mall patrons during regular mall hours. Vendors for the artisans’ hall are invited to apply for a limited number of spaces showcasing their high quality goods for sale.
Minimal fees will be charged to artisan vendors with partial proceeds donated to local charities. Entertainers and demonstration artists will be paid an honourarium for their performances. Details and application forms are available from the Summer Arts Faire producer, Kim Smythe, 250-758-5555.
