The Nanaimo Art Gallery, 900 Fifth Street location, presents The Video Body: The Private Self as Public from January 8 to February 13, 2010. The Video Art projects of artists John G Boehme, Farheen Haq, Judith Price, and Jeroen Witvliet use and engage their private self to become an engaged public body. These artists structure their own personal narratives as points of investigation and resistance to mass media’s influences. They conceptualize and investigate codes and language to present complex diverse narratives that, in a gallery space, complement each other’s projects and are ripe with a multi-narrative that resists easy interpretation. The opening reception for this exhibition is January 8, 2010, from 5 to 7 pm. For more information call 250-740-6350.
