SWAN Seeks Volunteers

Start With Art Nanaimo (SWAN) is looking for people who are interested in getting involved in this grassroots community project by becoming a board member of SWAN at the annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. They are looking for people who are interested in developing new ideas involving the larger community, creating new and organizing established events such as art shows and the annual coffee house, and more. They are looking for individuals who are interested in fundraising for the art studio, who have money management skills to fill the role of treasurer, who love working with computer technology to maintain our website, who are interested in developing relationships with local media to share information about SWAN, upcoming events, and shows, and who have a knack for organizing data to keep the membership up-to-date and informed.

The SWAN board is an organic evolving group of creative, collaborative, and committed people who work together for the common goal of creating artistic and creative opportunities for all in our community. They are looking for people who are interested in joining this group to contribute their ideas, skills, and commitment. Board members will be expected to attend monthly meetings, to become involved in a project, and to be an ambassador for diversity and the arts in the community. The individual roles of board members will be selected at the first meeting after the AGM. The board members elected at the AGM will decide the time and date of the next board meeting. They are looking forward to welcoming people with new ideas and energy to the board of SWAN.
