The Mid Island Co-op is sponsoring the Canadian Cancer Society 2010 Tour de Rock and they’re committed to raising $20,000. They are asking the public to help them reach their fundraising goal by signing up for their Spin/Shave-a-thon. Spinners can enter a team or as an individual and will be required to ride for a minimum of one hour. Each team/individual will be collecting donations in support of their team. Don’t like to spin? Then shave your head for the cause. Or better yet, challenge your boss to shave their head. Set a fundraising goal and collect donations to support the Cancer Society. If you reach the fundraising goal then your boss goes under the clipper!

This event will be from 10 am to 4 pm on September 18, 2010, in the Co-op Centre parking lot, 2517 Bowen Road, Naniamo. Stationary bikes and a head shaving area will be set up in the Co-op parking lot. There will be activities throughout the day including a BBQ, raffle, and draws.

Here are a few fundraising ideas to get you started: Donation boxes, BBQ, bake sale, bottle drive, car wash, car smash (only for clunkers), beer and burger night at a local pub, 50:50 tickets, silent auction, raffle off a product or service, detail cars by donation, garage sale, mini-putt golf tournament, pancake breakfast, donate a portion of sales on a certain date to the cause, or even go door-to-door. Spread the word, round up your team, and get started on your fundraising as every dollar counts. For more information or to register contact Karelyn Goodall at 250.729.8413.
