The restored Nanaimo Bastion will be unveiled on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at a ceremony between 10:45 and 11:30 am. The Bastion will then be open for tours of the restored structure. The Bastion’s exhibits will be installed for the 2011 Summer Season which will open on the May long weekend. The Nanaimo Bastion is the oldest original Hudson’s Bay Company fort in North America, erected in 1853. The current restoration should ensure that the building lasts for another 157 years.
