One Human Family Choir

The One Human Family Gospel Choir is having their end of season gospel and soul extravaganza at St Andrews United Church, 311 Fitzwilliam Street, Nanaimo, at 7 pm on Saturday, May 2, 2009. The special guest soloist is Patricia Moss from Birmingham, Alabama, with special guest director, Gergana Velinova of the Victoria Conservatory of Music. The group will be featuring the music of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Mahalia Jackson, and others. It’s a celebration of the oneness of humanity.

The One Human Family Gospel Choir is well-known on the Vancouver ¬†Island music scene for its inspirational music composed and arranged by Eric Dozier and drawn from traditional African-American spirituals. Dozier, a former arranger and conductor for the Harlem Gospel choir, among many others, brings his characteristic fusion of traditional spirituals, jazz, and gospel to share a vision to ‘unite the world, one song at a time’.

The choir is happy to be supporting one of Nanaimo’s local food banks, Loaves and Fishes, and will be accepting non-perishable food items at the door. Tickets ($12 in advance, $15 at the door, children 12 and under free) are available at Falconer Books, Port Place Mall, and Tom Lee Music (across from Woodgrove Shopping Centre).¬† For more information call Sylvia at (250) 751-7873.
