Kevin Neish in Nanaimo

Kevin Neish, an eyewitness to the assault on the Free Gaza Flotilla by Israeli troops in May 2010, will speak at Vancouver Island University, Building 355, Room 203, Nanaimo, at 7 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2010. A resident of Victoria, Neish was one of three Canadians among the 700 international activists who took part in the flotilla of ships delivering aid to Palestinians. The group was attempting to break Israel’s illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Neish was on board the largest ship, the Mavi Marmara, when Israeli military forces stormed the boats in international waters on May 31, 2010. Nine People were killed, dozens injured, and all were seized, jailed in Israel, and then expelled, minus their property and money. A long-time activist for justice and human rights, Neish is now involved in organizing a Canadian aid boat to Gaza to depart in October, 2010. Neish will speak about his experiences, showing video footage of the Israeli raid.
