The Nanaimo Art Gallery, 900 Fifth Street, will run a Hide ‘n Go Art workshop for budding junior artists aged seven to 11 from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, February 12, 2011. In this fun workshop your kids will learn how to make and decorate a beautiful treasure box where they can hide their secret art treasures. Find out about the whacky world of artist trading cards and choose from a wide variety of styles to make your very own personal collection of art cards. The fee for this event led by Carole Brooke is $30 plus HST for gallery members or $35 plus HST for non-members, all supplies included. All-day Vancouver Island University parking is $4. Montreal-born instructor Carole Brooke is a multimedia artist with a special interest in drawing and three dimensional works including masks and ‘altered books’. Carole delights in mystery and humour in her artworks, working with hidden images and text and unexpected combinations. Carole completed her BFA from Emily Carr in 2008, and enjoys teaching a variety of workshops and courses. Carole is also one of the participating artists in the Art Gallery’s Artists in the Schools program
