Lots will be happening in downtown Nanaimo this Saturday, October 30, 2010. The Nanaimo Art Gallery, 150 Commercial Street, is hosting an ArtRageous Saturday Halloween Extravaganza from 10:30 am to noon. Enjoy the fun as the art gallery is transformed into a spooky, ghostly lair with costumed children aged 5 to 11 years old doing wonderful eerie Halloween themed art projects. Parents are welcome to register their kids and drop them off at the location or stay for the fun. The fee is $10 per child or $15 for two siblings (or $5 per child with the presentation of a Leap Card). All materials are included.
Downtown Nanaimo merchants are sponsoring a trick or treat event from noon until 3 pm this Saturday with the over 80 participating stores displaying orange and black balloons. Kool and Child at Bocca Café, 427 Fitzwilliam Street, will have a Halloween crafts event for children from noon until 3 pm. During Spooky Story Time at the Harbourfront Library scary stories will be read from 2 to 2:30 pm.
From 8 pm on the Nanaimo Blues Society’s Halloween Dance will be in full swing at the Bowen Park Auditorium, 500 Bowen Road, Nanaimo. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory. Admission is $18 for Blues Society members or $20 for non-members.
