Green Drinks Nanaimo is an unstructured forum which meets at 5:30 pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month at a designated Nanaimo venue. There’s no charge to attend and you only have to pay for any food or drink you order. This afternoon, Wednesday, May 27, 2009, Ian Gartshore will give a 30-minute presentation on sustainable solutions to environmental challenges at The Vault Coffee House, intersection of Wallace, Commercial, Victoria, and Albert streets downtown.
There are Green Drinks Chapters in over 470 cities around the world where folks gather informally to chat about environmental topics once a month. They typically meet in a venue that offers refreshments, hence the name. Over time the format at Green Drinks Nanaimo has evolved to where there’s now normally a discussion leader who makes a short presentation on an environmentally-related topic to inform, engage, and help start the discussion. Anyone with a particular expertise or interest that they’re willing to share is welcome to offer their talents and passion for the next gathering. These events provide an unstructured opportunity to greet, connect, network, and chat with people who share an interest in the environment and sustainability.
