The Mid-Island Science, Technology and Innovation Council (MISTIC) will be hosting the fifth annual Science, Technology and Innovation Awards during National Technology Week on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. The awards are intended to highlight and recognize the many knowledge-based businesses located in the mid and north Vancouver Island including the Sunshine Coast. “The businesses and individuals have demonstrated passion, commitment, sound business practices, and innovative thinking”, says Carolyn Tatton, executive director of MISTIC. “There is a tremendous wealth of business successes, accomplishments, and achievements that often get overlooked.”
This gala event will highlight the achievements of individuals or businesses in twelve award categories representing leadership, innovation, manufacturing, aquaculture, engineering, environmental technology, food and beverage, health science, information technology, new media, survivors, and value added products. MISTIC is soliciting nominations for the awards with an on-line form. The nomination deadline is Monday, October 4, 2010. Tickets to the gala awards banquet at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, are $70 per person and can be ordered by calling the MISTIC office at 250-753-8324.
