A Clarinet, Some Heartstrings, and the Big, Bad Brass with Nanaimo’s Susanne Bullock, principal clarinettist, performing Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Copland and the beautiful Prairie Dawn by Canadian composer Stephen Chatman. Hearts will be touched by the Serenade for Strings, Op. 22 by Antonín Dvorak. The brass cection is dramatically featured with Ceremonial Fanfare by Aaron Copland, Fanfare for the Common Cold by Peter Schickele, Fanfare “La Péri” by Paul Dukas, and Signals from Heaven II (Night Signal) by Toru Takemitsu. Everything comes together in the closing Concert Music for Strings and Brass by Paul Hindemith. There will be a pre- and post-concert talk.
