West Coast children’s entertainers Bobs and LoLo will take to the stage at their high school alma mater Dover Bay Secondary for a special family concert on December 11, 2010. Robyn Hardy (Bobs) and Lorraine Pond (LoLo) are looking forward to returning home to share their live programming with Central Island families. The show is expected to sell out as the dynamic duo’s regular spots on the national children’s television network, Treehouse TV, are sure to have preschoolers, with parents in tow, lining up to see the live show.
What do the performers have to say? Bobs: “We’re super excited to be able to head home to celebrate the start of the holiday season! We’ve had such a great year with our 2010 JUNO Award nomination and the growing awareness of our music through our video play on Treehouse. Being able to share the live show with our friends, family, and hometown community is a great way to celebrate the end of an amazing year!”
LoLo: “We’ve been all over the country this year with performances in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland, and British Columbia. It’s really nice to have a chance to head back to Nanaimo for a few musical adventures…the promise of a home-cooked meal from Mom isn’t a bad thing either!”
Bobs and LoLo use music, movement, and make-believe to share stories and experiences that both entertain and educate, while ultimately teaching children to care about themselves, their neighbours, and the planet. Their programming places an emphasis on celebrating the values of healthy-living and aims to inspire young audiences with an awareness and appreciation for the world around them. Growing up together on Vancouver Island, Robyn and Lorraine have always shared a love of the natural world and a passion for working with children. Creating the children’s performance duo, Bobs and LoLo, has allowed them to combine their diverse academic backgrounds with a mutual love of teaching and the creative arts. Bobs & LoLo have released three award-winning albums: Sea Notes (2004), Musical Adventures (2006) and Action Packed (2009).
Bobs and LoLo will be performing at Dover Bay Secondary School, 6135 McGirr Road, Nanaimo, on Saturday, December 11, at 2 pm. Tickets are available at Kool and Child, 208 Wallace Street, Nanaimo, or by calling 250-758-9727. All tickets are $10 (children under one year free).
