Hey parents, what are your children doing every second Saturday? How about creating some fun and fabulous works of art to take home? If your children are between the ages of five and 11 years old, join others in the morning from 10:30 am till 12:00 pm. All of the crafts are age-friendly so older or younger siblings are welcome to join in for either of the following workshops. It’s just $10 per child or $15 for two siblings, ($10 per parent if they’d like to do projects with their child/children), no charge for parents to watch. (With the presentation of a LEAP Card the fee is $5 per child).
On Saturday, January 8, 2011, from 10.30 am to noon it’s Winter Wonderland Painting for ages five to 11 (four year olds considered if accompanied by an adult). Come on January 8 and learn all about how to paint a winter wonderland. Inspired by snow and the structure of tree branches, students will learn all about painting winter trees in winter landscape scenes. Come enjoy the fun!
On Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 10.30 am to noon, Resist Watercolour Painting will explore fun techniques which show you how to first draw with wax crayons and then paint over it with watercolour paint. Since the paint will not stick to wax, this gives paintings a wonderful texture and ghostly quality. This will quickly become your favorite way to paint. Register for either workshop at the downtown Nanaimo Art Gallery, 150 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, tel. 250-754-1750.
