For the first time ever, the Nanaimo Art Gallery is offering ArtRageous children’s art program in the fall. The workshops on October 16, 2010, at the Nanaimo Museum in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, and on October 30, 2010, at the gallery’s downtown location, 150 Commercial Street, are open to children ages five to 11 years old.
The Saturday, October 16, 2010, session from 10:30 am to noon at the Nanaimo Museum will feature 3D Mixed Media Collages. The children will learn how to make wonderful three-dimensional collages. Using animals and insects as the theme, this project will involve painting, paper cutting, and using glue. The Saturday, October 30, 2010, event from 10:30 am to noon at the Nanaimo Art Gallery downtown will be a Halloween Extravaganza! Enjoy the fun as the Art Gallery is transformed into a spooky, ghostly lair. Come dressed in costume if you like and make wonderful eerie Halloween themed art projects.
Parents are welcome to register their children and drop them off at the location or stay for the fun. For ages five to 11 it’s $10 per child or $15 for two siblings. With the presentation of a Leap Card, the cost is only $5 per child. All materials are included. To register with a credit card, call 250-754-1750, or drop into the downtown gallery at 150 Commercial Street prior to the start of the workshop.
