Titia (TJ) Jetten and Robert Plante of Pacific Picasso Creative Directors and their three sons are organising a 12-hour fundraiser for needy children at The Buzz Coffee House, 4515 Uplands Drive, Nanaimo, on Friday, October 22, 2010. The goal is to raise funds for schools to provide meals for students in need. One out of four children in Nanaimo go to school without food. Children who lack energy are not able to play, learn, study, or build a future because they are preoccupied with the lack of food. Titia’s family wants to try to do what they can to help these young people make a good start of the day and of their life.
From 8 am to 8 pm, Titia, Robert, and sons will deploy their creative energy at this Art Marathon to raise money to give Nanaimo kids a breakfast or lunch. They will draw, paint, and sketch for 12 hours and the public is invited to visit and make a donation: any size or variety of donation will be gratefully accepted. There will be 20-minute workshops one can join for a donation. Robert will draw your cartoon, by donation. A silent auction will be held for art objects created at the Marathon and there will be a raffle for a $120 gift basket with Epicure Selection products. Other artists, painters, designers, and musicians are invited to join in, if only for 30 minutes. Children are welcome to participate in the painting and sketching. It should be a fun day.
All funds raised will be donated to the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School Foundation and the Foundation will distribute the money to schools where the need is greatest. The organizers are proud that Mrs. Erin van Steen, Executive Director from the Foundation, is supporting this initiative. Please make cheques and donations payable to The Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation. Tax receipts will be given for donations over $25. For more information, call 250-734-1049.
