Nanaimo artist Linda Findlay is giving a one-day Absolute Beginner Acrylic Painting Workshop aimed at those who have always wanted to paint but felt intimidated. Starting at the very beginning, students will learn the basics of acrylic paint including, which paints to buy, how to mix basic colours, how to choose brushes and painting surfaces, where to use gesso, and a brief introduction to mediums and gels. Utilizing two fun painting exercises, they will experiment with some basic painting techniques. The aim of this workshop is to learn some basic skills about working with paint and to provide encouragement by demystifying the medium and its tools.
Instructor Linda Findlay is a painter with a primary interest in working with acrylics. Linda considers drawing to be an essential skill in her art making process, and loves to share her love of it with others. She firmly believes that everyone can be creative. Linda is a graduate of the Ontario college of Art and Design and has an MA in Art Education from Simon Fraser University. She taught drawing and painting for 15 years at many Vancouver colleges and schools before relocating to Nanaimo.
